| OVERVIEW |

Leonardo Da Vinci once stated that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, and that is the first thought that entered my mind when I viewed the Sunrunner’s superb new offering, the 2800. Of course I have seen the naval architect’s schematic and had even been fortunate to sneak a quick peek of hull number one while it was still in the factory but to be honest there is nothing like being able to hop onboard the finished product and see someone’s vision turned into a reality.
In my opinion there is a glaring vacancy in the 28ft sector of the Australian boat building market. Many manufacturers have tried to get it right but the end result is a cramped, bubble-looking boat. Having recently been onboard one of these Australian made vessels and boarding the 2800 Sunrunner the difference is overwhelming and you could seriously be mistaken for being onboard the 3300 Sunrunner. Make no mistake about the 2800 Sunrunner is a big volume sports cruiser.
The aft cockpit, which is impressive to say the least, is accessed through a transom door via the duckboard. It comes complete with refreshment centre featuring a sink (plumbed with hot and cold water) and sizeable icebox, which could easily be converted into a cockpit fridge. While hull number two has two lounges in the aft cockpit, one mounted against the transom and the second against the port side aft cockpit settee facing it, future models will feature a wrap around u-shape lounge allowing the proud owner to comfortable seat six guests in the rear. These new lounges will also have storage underneath them and a table for cockpit dining is also being added.
Move up onto the bridge deck there is another lounge that could comfortable seat four guests on the port side with a convenient stainless steel grab rail mounted on the top of the lounge giving them something to hang onto if the weather isn’t overly friendly.
